At the club’s summer sale, members feature demonstrations of lapidary, wire-wrapping, bead making and soap stone carving plus provide interesting activities for children and adults alike. The sixth annual carvers and woodworkers show promotes the enjoyment of working with wood as a hobby and features a
stimulating and inspiring display of outstanding craftsmanship in each area of interest to carvers and woodworkers. You will find wood manipulated in many ways: carved, turned, laminated, assembled, inlaid, pierced, and hewn creating works of art, home furnishings and accessories of all kinds. The exhibition is a judged competition in the junior, novice, intermediate and open levels of skill and experience. Judging is based on originality, workmanship, degree of difficulty and finish. Patrons can vote for their favourite entries for the peoples’ choice awards. Entries are accepted from throughout the province and neighbouring regions. There is a nominal cost for admission. 2008 will mark the ninth outstanding season for the Sorrento Village Farmers‚ Market. Fresh organic produce, fresh baked goods, bedding plants, preserves, soap, beauty products, and local crafts are available weekly at the market which is held in Sorrento Shoppers‚ Plaza every Saturday. All items are made, baked, or grown‚ fresh in the Shuswap. This market has become the place to be on a Shuswap Saturday morning. It is more than just a market‚; it is a community event for residents and visitors, including vendors for whom this market has become a favorite. The Market Stage features local talent -guitarists, accordionists, dancers, and clowns ˆ-taking turns entertaining market visitors. Local artisans make visits to the market to demonstrate their talents. A summertime Saturday morning is not complete without a visit to the Sorrento Village Farmers‚ Market.
