Settle in at A Rover's Rest Bed and Breakfast and drive to one of
the local wineries to enjoy wine tasting. There are six wineries
and two breweries, within the Shuswap Lake region. There are three
wineries near our bed and breakfast: Recline Ridge Vineyards &
Winery, Granite Creek Estates Wines, Sunnybrae Vineyards & Winery
are known for their award winning selections of wines. Both
breweries are near as well; Crannog Ales & Barley Station Brew
Pub.
There are many other things to do in our area; take in a short
round of golf, go for a hike, schedule a relaxation massage or
other spa services, or take a boat ride to the mouth of the river
to explore the Shuswap. You can also visit many of our local
restaurants such as Log-N-Hearth, Creekside Restaurant, Barley
Station Brew Pub, and the Stratis Mediterranean Gill all of these
come with our special recommendations, however the Shuswap has
many more enjoyable restaurants and pubs you can visit.
After a day out around the Shuswap return to A Rovers Rest Bed and
Breakfast and submerge yourself in our large outdoor hot tub, read
a book by the fire, watch a movie, or just spend some quality time
with your partner.
The weather in the Shuswap can be very unpredictable in October.
It is advisable to bring warm, waterproof clothing as well as
suitable footwear for strolling along the river bank.
Cameras are essential… The autumn colors are usually at
their most breathtaking during the Salute to the Salmon, making a
camera and memory cards or color film an important piece of
equipment for capturing memorable moments during your visit to the
Shuswap. You may also find that a polarizing filter is useful for
reducing the sunlight reflections off the water to allow clear
photographs of crimson salmon beneath the surface. Pack along
plenty of memory cards and film, as your particular needs may not
be available on site.
