Sockeye Salmon battle up the both the Fraser and Thompson Rivers. 12 Km
of Adams River will be the destination of millions of the returning
sockeye salmon as well as other salmon species. With 65 hectares of
stream bed Adams River rates amongst the richest natural spawning
streams in North America. Salmon return to the Adams River every year
but every 4 years there is a dominant run in which the largest amount of
salmon return dwarfing the smaller years which bring approximately 3-5
The Salute to the
Sockeye runs the first 3 weeks of October 2016. This year
the Pink Salmon run. They run every odd year 2015, 2017,
2019. Pink Salmon are smaller in length but are taller and
are banded in color ranging from white green to pink greyish.
The pink salmon prefer to spawn in medium water depths.
Along with the Pink, you will find Chinook Salmon, Sockeye Salmon
and Coho Salmon.
